Currently in Google Play Console for testing, version 1.0.0.2 of Simple Video Player.
As a new developer whom just signed up with Google Play, I can honestly say that this is a very painstaking process to go through. 10 years ago I had to sign up for the Google Play store for a different company, and the process was a lot more straight forward.
Now there are all these policies to adhere to, forms to fill our, and with Google having split all of its services through different sections and logins, it is very annoying to say the least.
I was hoping to be able to do this without having to build a full-fledged website, but in order for me to display ads in an app because selling apps is not a thing anymore these days, it required me to set up an account with Google Ad Manager.
But for that to be able to be activated, I needed to sign up an adsense account, and in order for that to be activated, it needs to be connected to an actual website with content.
So I am still working through this unfortunately.
Then, as a new developer on the Google Play Store, there is a new process in play. Before an actual app can be released, it has to go through its usual submission process for the description, images and the like, but on top of that, it needs to be tested by 20 people for 2 weeks before it can be moved up the chain.
I thought Amazon was a pain to publish on when I worked with them 10 years ago, with a consistent stream of nit-picking from their testers with every new release, hoping to have just that one decent tester approve the latest app release, and I’m not even to that point yet with Google these days.
But I will just keep plugging away, hoping to get through this and get Simple Video Player released.
If you would like to help, sign up for testing by sending an email to me using this link. Make sure you use the Gmail account you use in Google Play, and I will personally invite you for testing Simple Video Player.
Thank you 🙂
